Midwest Snows Taper Off For Now
Snows in the midwest will begin to taper off today as the system that brought snow to the region, and rain with a mixture of snow to the northeast begins moving out of the area.
As the system moves through, lake effect snow will begin firing up in the snowbelt areas east of Lakes Erie and Ontario. Accumulations will not be overly excessive as the system will move through quickly, however precipitation rates will be heavy at times. Heavy snows are also possible in the northern Rockies of western Montana, eastern Idaho, and northwestern Wyoming. While advisories have not been issued at this time, that is likely to change in the overnight hours. The southwestern and southern United States will continue to enjoy very warm and dry weather, flaunting their comfort in the faces of the less fortunate! Brownsville, Texas will enjoy high temperatures touching the 80°F mark through Wednesday, Quartzite, Arizona will have clear skies for the week, with high temperatures also touching the 80°F through Wednesday, and the mid to upper 70’s for the balance of the week, Imperial Beach, California will experience fog in the morning hours through most likely Thursday, but also wonderfully mild high temperatures in the low 70’s for the balance of the week. In the immediate future I see a new trek of snow bound for the midwest trailing from the Iowa Illinois border up through southern Wisconsin to the Michigan U.P. More on that tomorrow as the new model runs come in. Be sure to view our Advisory and Radar Centers to receive the latest updates and developments. |
